Discovery took place in the Aram Block, where the state owns 80% participation; new studies will evaluate potential area of the area
It announced it on Monday (17.mar.2025) the identification of hydrocarbons in the Aram block, located in the pre-salt of the Santos Basin. The 4-BRSA-1395-SPS well, still in drilling, is located 245 km from the city of (SP), at a depth of water of 1,759 meters.
The consortium responsible for the operation will continue with the drilling until the depth provided to characterize the conditions of the reservoirs found. Petrobras has 80% participation in the block. The remaining 20% are from Chinese state -owned company (China National Petroleum Corporation).
The Aram Block was purchased at the 6th round of bids from (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels), in March 2020, under the production sharing regime. Contract management is performed by (pre-salt oil SA).
The discovery was found through electrical profiles, signs of gas and fluid samples, which will undergo laboratory analyzes. Studies should evaluate the potential of the area and guide the next steps of exploration.
The Santos Basin is one of the most strategic areas for Petrobras, concentrating large oil and gas discoveries in recent years. The state -owned company did not report predictions about the beginning of production on site.
