The state has recorded an increase of 317.3 thousand new beneficiaries, totaling 18.3 million people served by these services. Growth, which represents an increase of 1.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, positions São Paulo as one of the main supplementary health markets in the country.

In the national context, Brazil reached a total of 52.2 million beneficiaries in health plans at the end of January 2025. The number represents an increase of 1 million new users, growth of 2% over the previous year.

São Paulo stands out not only for the number of new users, but also for the rate of coverage of health plans, which reached 39.8%. The index exceeds the national average of 24.6%.

According to the study, several factors contribute to the increase in the number of users of health plans, both in São Paulo and Brazil. These include the aging of the population, the demand for quality medical care and the perception of limitations in the public health system. Covid-19 pandemic has also influenced many families and individuals to choose private health plans, seeking greater security and access to health services.
