The European Union calls on Israel to end the renewed attacks in the Gaza Strip, in which more than 400 people have died since Tuesday morning. TASR informs this based on the DPA report.
“The EU condemns the violation of the ceasefire in Gaza and the death of civilians, including children in Israeli raids,” says EU head of EU Foreign Policy, Kaja Kallasová and European Commissioner Dubravka Šuicová and Hadja Lahbibová.
“The EU calls for Israel to complete its military operations, and re -appeals to (Palestinian radical movement) Hamas to immediately release all hostages,” they add.
The EU is also urging Israel to maintain restraint in terms of combat operations, and restored the undisturbed supply of humanitarian aid and electricity in the Gaza Strip.
In the meantime, many world leaders responded to the restoration of Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, for example, condemned by Britain and the UN. Last but not least, German Minister of Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerback joined them. She described the end of the first phase of the ceasefire in Gaza and the restored Israeli attacks as worrying.
At the same time, both parties called on to comply with international humanitarian law and immediately renew the negotiations on the second phase of the ceasefire and further release of the hostage. At the same time, she appealed to world leaders, especially to the United States to use their influence in an effort to find a solution to the situation.
Israeli Defense Minister Jisrael Kac said on Tuesday night that Israel “restored fighting” in the Gaza Strip. He declared that he would continue the attacks until all the remaining hostages are released. The high -ranking representative of the Palestinian militant movement Hamas told Reuters that Israel unilaterally terminated the ceasefire agreement.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, where Hamas rules, reported that these attacks have already claimed at least 404 lives.
In the Gaza Strip, there was a ceasefire from January 19, suspending more than 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas. The first phase of the ceasefire, however, officially ended almost two weeks ago and both sides did not agree on its continuation or the procedure for the second phase.
