Astronauts arrive on Earth after 286 days “arrested” in the space

Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore should be in space for about 10 days, but technical failures prevented their vote

NASA Astronauts, US Space Agency, Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore returned to Earth on Tuesday (18.Mar.2025), after 9 months at ISS (International Space Station). They became “stuck” in the space for 286 days.

The amerysage took place on the coast of Florida (USA), around 7 pm (Brasília time). Was broadcast live by the agency. In addition to Wilmore and Williams, two other people returned: NASA Nick Hague astronaut and Russian cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov.

Williams and Wilmore arrived at the ISS aboard Boeing’s spacecraft Starliner in June 2024 and should stay for about 10 days. However, technical failures prevented the capsule from bringing them back. The Starliner came back without crew.

During the 9 months, the 2 did scientific research and worked on routine maintenance, along with the other space station astronauts.

The launch of the capsule to seek astronauts was held on Friday (14.mar) at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. After a 29 -hour trip, the capsule arrived at ISS on Sunday (16.mar).
