Also because of heavy rain, the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) put under yellow warning the districts of Faro and Beja between 15:00 and 21:00, then orange until 06:00 on Thursday.

The IPMA also put under yellow warning due to rain the districts of Évora, Santarém and Portalegre from 18:00 today and 06:00 on Thursday and Viseu, Guarda, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra between 00:00 and 06:00 Thursday.

Orange warnings were also issued due to the forecast of strong wind with gusts up to 90 kilometers per hour (km/h), being 110 km/h in the highlands, to the districts of Viseu, Porto, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga.

The IPMA placed a yellow wind warning for all districts of the continent from this afternoon and until 15:00 on Thursday.

According to the IPMA, by Friday the total accumulated precipitation should be between 70 and 100 millimeters in the Central and South regions, and may be locally superior on the center coast.

Snow can fall at the highest points of Serra da Estrela, lowering the quota to 1,200/1,400 meters on Friday.

The Martinho depression will also bring an increase in wind intensity, which will blow south/southeast with gusts that can reach values ​​of 80 to 90 km/h, especially on the coast, and 110 to 120 km/h in the highlands.

It is also foreseen maritime agitation, waiting southwest waves 4 to 5 meters south of Cape Carvoeiro and 3 to 4 meters north of that cable.

On Tuesday, at a press conference, the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (Anepc) warned of the aggravation of the meteorological situation in the continent’s territory in the coming days, with sometimes strong precipitation, wind and maritime agitation.
