The singer announced on Wednesday (19) gave up his candidacy for president and any other political office in the 2026 elections.
He stated that the family’s opposition weighed on the decision and that nothing prevents him from applying for another claim.
In a video published on social networks, Gusttavo Lima tells fans that he will devote himself entirely to the musical career at this time, focusing on conquering the Latin market.
“This was not and it will not be my goal, but even if not part of politics I will continue to do my part. I have not departed and I will not be political, on the contrary, I want all the parties to come together for the Brazilian people,” he said.
To the metropolises the singer told the elections next year will be “very polarized” and that it would be necessary to sit down to negotiate guidelines that may not be in the interest of Brazil, but from parties or people. “I have no stomach. My business is working and helping people.”
In the seven -minute statement, Gusttavo Lima said “he will continue to contribute to changes in Brazil” through social work and entrepreneurship. The countryman also complained that he is the target of false news and criticism in recent months, although he did not delve into the subject, and has asked for respect.
“I ask everyone to respect my opinion and my position and my impartiality, just and respectfully, as in the life of another Brazilian who expresses his point of view. It’s a different point of view, ok?” He said.
“Whenever we position ourselves politically or somehow, there are those who want to reach us and disrespectfully point us, distort things, invent fake news to our respect, to my respect,” he said.
The countryman concludes by saying that in 2026 “he expects the people to be awake to make the right decision for this great nation.”
In February, Gusttavo Lima had celebrated the results of Genial/Quaest research on those of 2026, which pointed to him as that ante () in second round scenarios between the names of the right to the presidency.
