The National President of Republicans, Deputy Marcos Pereira (SP), expressed confidence in the permanence of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, in the party. In an interview with the program WW This Tuesday (18), Pereira addressed speculation about a possible change from Tarcisio to PL.
Pereira stated: “I trust Tarcisio’s word a lot. He has always told me, since all these speculation happened about his eventual trip to the PL, that he would not leave Republicans, because he chose to come to Republicans.”
The party leader recalled a conversation with Jair Bolsonaro (PL) when he was still president. According to Pereira, Bolsonaro would have said that he would not give up Tarcisio in PL. “I said, president, up front we see that,” Pereira reported.
Tarcísio’s decision
Marcos Pereira emphasized that Tarcisio, even with less conditions to decide to be minister at the time, opted for Republicans. “He decided and chose to come to Republicans in a dialogue, an agreement made with Bolsonaro and me,” he explained.
The President of the Republicans questioned the logic of a possible change: “If he chose when he has no position, and now that he is already elected and going to a reelection that is the most natural, he has, election always election, but has relatively a guaranteed reelection, why would he change?”
Pereira’s confidence in Tarcisio’s permanence in Republicans seems unshakable despite the harassment of other subtitles. The party leader bets on the coherence and word of the governor of São Paulo, emphasizing the conscious choice made by Tarcisio when joining the party.
