A 36-year-old man was arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) in the municipality of Almodôvar, Beja district, on suspicion of firearm theft in a residence in Quarteira, Algarve, was announced this Wednesday.
In a statement, the PJ indicated that the man, detained on Tuesday, is suspected of the authorship of a theft using the firearm, which occurred at dawn on December 20, 2024, in that city of Loulé, Faro district.
“At the time, the man, along with unidentified third parties, introduced himself, by climbing, in a residence, surprising his occupants,” said this police.
With the alleged robbers already inside the house, the occupants were “manieted, assaulted, threatened with death and stripped of some objects in gold and cash,” said PJ without having the values.
Contacted today by Lusa, a PJ source needed that the man now detained is from the Quarteira zone and was located in a house in the municipality of Almodôvar, where he was hidden.
The suspect already knew the residence he allegedly assaulted, stressed the same source, adding that he continues to investigate to try to identify other presumed authors of the robbery.
According to the PJ, this suspect was arrested by elements of the southern board of this police outside of flagrant offense and in compliance with a detention warrant issued by the court.
The man will now be present the first judicial interrogation for the application of possible coercion measures.
The inquiry is in charge of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) of Faro.
