Just over a hundred days to the end of Neymar’s contract with Santos and club president Marcelo Teixeira, she takes a “very positive” balance about the player’s second passage through the team so far. “Expectations are being met,” he said in an interview with Infomoney. The leader, however, believes that There is conditions to keep Neymar on the team until the World Cup next year.
With muscle discomfort in the thigh, the midfielder was left out of the Paulista Championship semifinal dispute and Santos was eliminated from the competition, by losing, 2-1, the match against Corinthians. He was also cut from the call for the Brazilian National Team, which plays games against Colombia and Argentina for the World Cup qualifiers.
Marcelo Teixeira prefers to see the situation in half full of the glass and classifies Neymar’s return to the team as a “watershed” that allowed Santos a replacement in the sports market, attracting fans and new fans.
Teixeira participated in a panel on the models of SAF (Society of Football) in Brazil. The club still acts as a non -economic association, but, according to Teixeira, “does professional management” and could become a SAF at any time.

Infomoney: What is the expectation for the final stretch of the contract with Neymar?
Marcelo Teixeira: The balance of the first months was very positive. We set up an important adaptation and growth project for Neymar inside and outside the pitch. In the field, so that it can evolve and grow technically, which is what has been happening. Outside the lawns, we are achieving results in we have partners, companies, increasing our volume of revenue. Therefore, I believe the expectation is very positive so that we can extend this contract until the World Cup next year.

IM the return of Neymar to Santos already ‘paid’?
MT: There is an immediate, practical financial return, and an indirect result that it is not possible to measure. You get new associates, new fans, and expand Santos’s possibilities in a moment of reconstruction. Until four months ago, we were competing in Serie B of the Brazilian Championship. So this is a process of relocation of Santos and Neymar comes as a icing on the cake. It comes to achieve immediate financial results and that contracts that are being celebrated with the presence of Neymar remain in force even if he is no longer with us.
IM: What does Neymar tend to stop Legacy for Santos in his second time at the club?

MT: The legacy is the identity of a victorious base player, who left Brazil, won the main titles and serves the Brazilian team. Upon returning, saints regain self -esteem and returns joy to the fan who was bitter, sad, boring and without so many hopes. [O retorno de Neymar] It is a watershed that makes Santos replace in the sports market, attract investors and new fans. […] We are having renovations, bringing partners to existing projects that are not from Neymar, are from Santos Futebol Clube. The team is opening the doors for modernizing our facilities, both in Vila Belmiro and CTS [centros de treinamento] King Pelé and Boys of the Village. Apart from the other extensions that Santos is doing with a view to being following the needs of today of Brazilian football.

IM: How are the plans to build the new arena and the relationship with the construction company WTorre?
Continues after advertising
MT: We had a memo of intent with WTorre that was celebrated by the previous management. We spent almost a year discussing this memorandum and came to the conclusion that it practically no longer exists. We are almost concluding a new contract model and, with this, we expect that very soon Santos will be able to put in the market the commercialization of stateroom sales to enable the construction of the new stadium. The architectural project, in terms of city hall, has advanced a lot. Everything is already in the approval phase and I believe that, at the right time, Santos will have its new arena.
IM: The idea is to have a new arena or expand the existing stadium?
MT: Both projects foresee the demolition of the current stadium and the construction of a multipurpose arena.
IM: Santos participated in a SAFS panel at Infomoney’s Sports & Business Summit, without being a SAF. What does that mean?
MT: Santos is not a SAF, but does professional management. It is an associative club, but it is preparing to become a SAF at any time. It will be up to the Council, the associative framework, at its own time, to make this definition. We have this possibility if Santos deems necessary to make this transformation.
