At the head of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations of the Presidency of the Republic (SRI) and in charge of the Government’s political articulation, Minister Gleisi Hoffmann (PT) used her profile in the X, former Twitter, to criticize the governors of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás and Rio Grande do Sul, who oppose President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
Without quoting the names of managers, she and charged gratitude from the executive’s heads. The states are administered by Romeu Zema (Novo), Claudio Castro (PL), Ronaldo Caiado (Union) and Eduardo Leite (PSDB).
“No one heard from the governors of these four large states, a word of thanks to President Lula or clarification to the population,” wrote Gleisi. “On the contrary, they are among those who most attack the president, making systematic opposition to those who help them in the hardest time.”
This Monday, 17, the Ministry of Finance released the payment of R $ 1.33 billion in debt of federative units. In rounded amounts, there were R $ 854 million for debts from Minas Gerais, R $ 320 million for Rio, R $ 76 million for Goiás and R $ 73 million from Rio Grande do Sul.
With the exception of Claudio Castro, which may run for Senate in 2026, Zema, Caiado and Leite are considered possible presidential candidates in the next elections. A pre-candidacy event of the Governor of Goiás is scheduled for April 4th.
Of the amount of R $ 1.33 billion, R $ 2.8 million were still for debts from Rio Grande do Norte and R $ 74 thousand from the municipality of Santanópolis (BA).
Like the four managers pinned by the Minister of SRI, the governor of RN, Fatima Bezerra (PT), and the mayor of Santanópolis, Vitor do Povo (MDB), did not comment on the payment of debts on social networks after the disclosure of the amounts by the Ministry of Finance.
The payment of state debts by the Federal Government occurs when the National Treasury informs the debtor and asks to comment on payment delays. If the entity does not comply with the obligations within the stipulated period, the Union pays the amounts due.
As a guarantee of credit operations, the Union, represented by the National Treasury, is communicated by creditors that the State or Municipality did not perform a certain discharge of values.
