A way from the Polish People’s Republic to laundry of towels. I’m going back to my grandmother’s methods
Contrary to appearances, towel washing is a very important topic. For years I was washing towels beige. I reloaded the washing machine and added improper detergents. As a result, my towels were stiff, rough and quickly lost their original color. I learned from my grandmother that it is worth approaching the washing of towels in a way. Although it may seem funny, towels are one of the most difficult types of washing. On the one hand, towels have regular contact with moisture, which promotes the growth of bacteria and germs, and on the other hand they are used to wipe the body, and thus collect dead skin and dirt from the skin.
They used to be cooked while washing towels. The high temperature killed. The norm was putting the towels into the garage and cooking at 100 degrees C. Today, modern washing machines will cope with germs at a lower temperature. It is best to wash at 40 degrees C and white at 60 degrees C.
Folk ways to wash towels
Cyprysik or IXI powder was most often used for washing. My grandmother, however, reaches for home -made towels. She always said that they are the best for this purpose. Her secret weapon was baking soda. She poured several tablespoons of baking soda into the washing machine Frania. Baking soda will be great at setting white and bright towels. Not only antibacterial works, but also has whitening properties. Removes yellow spots and various types of stains. Importantly, baking soda softens fabrics and makes them pleasant to the touch. Baking soda is safe for the skin and does not cause allergies. Try to wash towels in a cleaned soda, and you will find that it will work better than a classic powder.
