The advantages of strawberries cannot be counted. They are tasty, healthy and what is more, low -calorie. We wait all year to taste their fruit straight from the bush. Which varieties should you choose to make them the sweetest as possible?

If you dream of sweet strawberries like your grandmother, put on specific varieties checked in our climate. In stores there is a lot of them and it is worth knowing which will suffer with unique fruit. Which strawberry varieties are the sweetest?

  • Strawberry ‘Lambda’: Recognized as the sweetest variety in Poland, with juicy fruits. However, seedlings are not very efficient.
  • Strawberry ‘polka’: Extremely sweet, with a slight hint of caramel. Its fruits are medium -sized, ideal for raw food. It is resistant to cold, which is why it is suitable for growing in our conditions.
  • Strawberry ‘Kent’: One of the earliest and sweetest varieties, with large and resistant fruits.
  • Kashubian strawberry: In 2023, the tastiest strawberry in Poland. Its cultivation is protected by EU law.

If you reach for these strawberry varieties, you can be sure that you will not quiet when they are eaten raw, straight from the bush.

Preparations such as jams, jam or compot will allow you to enjoy them all year round. Varieties of strawberries intended for preserves should have compact fruit. They are suitable for this:

  • Truskawka ‘Senga Sengana’: Its fruits during heat treatment completely fall apart, creating a smooth mass, ideal for jams.
  • Strawberry ‘Kent’: Sweet and curry, ideal for compotes and jelly. It is very easy to mix.
  • Strawberry ‘Roxana’: It has large, fleshy fruits that do not release water. Thanks to this, the preserves will have a distinct, strawberry taste. Perfect for jam, retains pieces of fruit.
  • Strawberry ‘Dukat’: with large dark red fruits. This is an old change, known to our grandmothers who knew that you do not need to add a lot of sugar to the preparations from this variety.

Always choose healthy and fresh fruit to prepare preserves. It is also worth remembering that strawberries can be successfully freezed and then added to cakes or desserts.
