Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claims that Tuesday raids in the Gaza band are “just the beginning”. All further negotiations on the ceasefire will now be held “under fire”, TASR reports according to AP and AFP reports.
“Hamas has already felt the power of our shoulder in the last 24 hours. Israel, according to him, will continue his campaign until he fulfills all its goals, that is, the destruction of Hamas and the liberation of all hostages that this militant group in Gaza is still detaining.
“From now on, the negotiations will only take place under fire,” said Israeli Prime Minister in television. He added that “military pressure is a prerequisite” to release other hostages.
At the same time, Netanyahu rejected allegations that the restoration of Gaza attacks was motivated by his internal political interests. “The commentators in the media are spreading lies, as if the recommendations and steps of the Israeli army were managed by political considerations … Without shame, they simply have no limits.
AFP explains that critics blame Netanyahu for continuing the war to ensure his own political survival and regardless of the lives of still detained hostages. The lives of the hostages are also worried about their relatives who appeal to Netanyahua to stop the attacks.
Israeli Defense Minister Jisrael Kac said on Tuesday night that Israel had resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip. He also declared that the attacks would continue until all the remaining hostages were released. AFP recalls that Hamas still holds 58 hostages in Gaza, including 34 hostages, but the Israeli army assumes they no longer live.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, where Hamas rules, informed that Tuesday’s Israeli attacks have already claimed at least 404 lives. Hamas has not yet responded militarily to these attacks, but Israel accused him of trying to force him to surrender. In the meantime, the restored Israeli attacks have been condemned by many world leaders as well as the United Nations.
In the Gaza Strip, there was a ceasefire from January 19, suspending more than 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas. The first phase of the ceasefire, however, officially ended almost two weeks ago and both sides have not yet agreed on its continuation or procedure for the second phase.
