In exchange for prisoners of war, following an agreement finalized during a telephone conversation yesterday by President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Ministry of Defense said today.
In a statement, Moscow said that 175 Ukrainian soldiers were exchanged with 175 Russian soldiers. Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski confirmed the exchange.
Moscow also delivered an additional 22 severely injured Ukrainian prisoners in need of urgent medical care to what it described as a gesture of goodwill.
The United Arab Emirates had mediated this agreement, the Russian Defense Ministry said. Russian soldiers released under the agreement are in Belarus and waiting to pass to Russia, he added.
