Thousands of protesters protest outside the home of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Wednesday after a major demonstration in front of the Israeli parliament, Knesset. Protests occur due to the resumption of combat in the Gaza Strip and Netanyahu’s attempt to dismiss Ronen Bar, head of Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service.

Protesters clashed with police and tried to enter Netanyahu’s house. The Israelis who participate in the protest accuses Netanyahu of prioritizing their political survival over the return of Israeli hostages that follow in the Gaza Strip – 59 kidnappeds are still in the captive of Hamas, but only 24 are considered alive.

The demonstration closed the main highway to Jerusalem in the morning, in a scene that remembered weekly demonstrations contrary to the reform of the judiciary in Israel. At the time, the Israeli government stated that the country’s internal division had contributed to the vulnerability of Israel and encouraged its enemies.

Let’s go to the streets!”

Bombing in Gaza

On the night of Monday, 17, after stating that the terrorist group Hamas is not willing to continue negotiating the continuity of the ceasefire and the release of hostages. According to the Ministry of Health of Gaza, which does not differentiate civilians from terrorists, more than 400 people died from bombing.

Netanyahu stated that the attack was “just the beginning” and that Israel will follow the military campaign. The army of Israel also ordered the displacement of the population that lives in eastern Gaza, indicating that Israel could begin new land incursions in the territory.

The return to bombings boosted Netanyahu politically, as the far-right party led by Itamar Ben-Gvir returned to the government with the breach of the truce. A high Hamas employee told the Associated Press (AP) May the return of Israel to war is equivalent to a “death sentence” to Israeli hostages.

According to information from the Israeli government, 24 Israeli hostages are still alive. Through reports of liberated hostages, families of at least 13 kidnapped have received signs of life from their loved ones. Some hostages appeared in videos published by Hamas, such as Evyatar David and Guy Gilboa-Dalal, who were led to the “ceremony” of liberation from other kidnapped during the first phase of the truce, in a clear sign of psychological torture.

The terrorist group also published a farewell video of Argentine brothers Eitan and Yair Horn before Yair’s release on February 15. THE Estadão Interviewed Argentines’ father, Itzik Horn, for a special report of one year of the war between Israel and Hamas.

“At any time-especially during an existential war-there must be complete confidence between the prime minister and the director of Shin Bet,” said Netanyahu.

Critics of the measure claim that Netanyahu is trying to harm the independence of Israel’s internal security service. In a letter, Gali Baharav-himara, Israel’s Attorney General pointed out that Netanyahu had no permission to begin the dismissal process until a determination was made about the legality of the measure. She said there was concerns about a possible conflict of interest to Netanyahu in the resignation of a bar.

According to information from the Israeli portal Be fatedNetanyahu wants to hold a meeting of his office on Thursday, 20, to vote for the measure. Any decision to remove Shin Bet’s boss would probably also be taken to the Supreme Court. (With international agencies).
