Speech was made in a session in honor of the 40th anniversary of the redemocratization, 1 day after Bolsonaro’s son announced that he will be in the USA
The president of the Chamber of Deputies (Republicans-PB), said on Wednesday (19.mar.2025) that there is no political persecution, arrested and exiled political in Brazil. The statement, made in a solemn session in honor of the 40th anniversary of the redemocratization in the country, was made 1 day after the federal deputy (PL-SP) announced that he will be licensed to live in the United States.
“In the last 40 years, we have no longer lived the ills of the period when Brazil was not democratic. We had no censored newspapers, no silent voices. We had no political persecution, nor prisoners or political exiles. We had no opinion crimes or usurpation of constitutional guarantees. No more, never again.”declared the congressman.
The event celebrates March 15, which marks the inauguration of the former president (then in the PMDB) as the 1st President of the Civil Republic after the Military Dictatorship (1964-1985).
Were present at the solemn session:
- (Republicans-PB)-President of the Chamber of Deputies;
- Luís Roberto Barroso – President of the Supreme Court (STF);
- (PT) – Minister of Institutional Relations, which represented the Executive;
- -Former President of the Republic;
- (PSDB-MG)-Federal Deputy, who represented his grandfather Tancredo Neves (1910-1985), President of the Republic who died before being sworn in.
Motta also cited Deputy Ulysses Guimarães (1916-1992), president of the National Constituent Assembly.
“As Dr. Ulysses said very well, ‘all our problems proceed with injustice.’ Therefore, it is the duty of this house and all Brazilians are always aware to combat injustices. Without forgetting that the greatest of all injustices is to deprive a people of their freedom.”declared the congressman.
Eduardo is licensed
The son of the former president (PL) stated that it will be mandate to “Dedicate fully and seek proper sanctions to human rights violators”.
Eduardo also justified the decision by claiming persecution against him and his father in Brazil. The congressman mentioned the possibility of the Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes to determine his arrest.
