At least 59 killed in a disco in Northern Macedonia because of a fire

Macedonial authorities say the fire was due to the release of sparks during the use of pyrotechnic material in a disco, whose ceiling was covered with a highly flammable material. The fire broke out when a well-known hip-hop music band, the DNK, were on stage.

Panic caused hundreds of the approximately 1500 people present to rush to the few exits of the establishment, which may have caused crushing deaths. Northern Macedonian public television says there were many young people in the “Pulse” disco on Saturday night, including several minors.
