Extension | Congress rejects a PP proposal to reaffirm support for Ukraine
The Plenary of Congress has rejected this Thursday a non -law proposition of the PP to urge the Government to reaffirm the support of Ukraine and strengthen the transatlantic relationship. He has only had the vote in favor of the 136 popular deputies and the Union of the Navarrese people and the opposition of 165 parliamentarians of the parties that support the progressive government, in this case without leaks or of adding or of Podemos or the BNG, despite the nuances and differences that they have expressed in these weeks with respect to the positions of the PSOE. There have been 45 abstentions of the deputies of Vox, Juns and the PNV.
The one that has come forward with 177 votes in favor, 32 against Vox and 135 abstentions of the PP has been a motion of the BNG, in the mixed group, relative to the position of the Spanish government “before the interventionist, warmongering, annexationist ads and support for the ethnic cleaning of the United States of America”. In the motion of the BNG approved the recent statements of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, on third countries are rejected and his proposal to control the Gaza’s strip with an ethnic cleaning of the Palestinian population is condemned.
The BNG deputy, Néstor Rego, celebrated support for the motion and stressed that “the Spanish State cannot remain silent before the interventionist and aggressive drift of Donald Trump, which is a direct threat to the sovereignty of other peoples and the basic principles of international law.” Among the approved aspects, the express rejection of Trump’s threats against Panama and Greenland (Denmark), as well as the condemnation of its intention to take control of Gaza’s girdle and transform it into a spring after necessarily displacing the Palestinian population and carrying out an ethnic cleaning.
Rego regretted, however, that PP and PSOE did not support other proposals included in the motion, such as the opposition to the European Commission allocated 800,000 million euros to the purchase of weapons or the resignation of the increase in military spending. The BNG also sought the support of Congress to urge the government at the exit of NATO and the dissolution of this military alliance without sufficient support.
