Located in the Algarve Well, the UCA vineyards benefit from the influence of the sea and the privileged proximity to the natural richness of the Ria de Alvor, in an extension of 27 hectares. From the same team that created the Arvad wine, a successful winery project a few kilometers away, is now born the UCA Violinist brand, a new concept that further elevates freshness and algarve searesis. Under the guidance of award -winning winemaker Bernardo Cabral, a deep knowledgeable of the region, this new line of wines bets on authenticity and respect for local terroir.
“Very light and low alcohol content, Violinist wines, available in red, white and rosé versions, result from a production with minimal intervention practices and ecological methods. This approach is aligned with the preferences of new consumers, which increasingly value innovation combined with craft processes in the creation of fresh and genuine wines,” says the brand’s agricultural society.
In addition to its cultural importance, with traces dating back to the neolithic period, the Ria de Alvor is a true natural sanctuary, where tide dunes, dunes and channels welcome a great diversity of species. Among them stands out the crab-vialist (Uca Tangier), one of the most iconic inhabitants of the ecosystem, visible between March and November, during low tide. This crustacean is distinguished by the movement of its huge tweezers, which shakes in the air as if playing violin, in a ritual to attract females. Interestingly, the Uca Tangier It can only be found in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, especially in the Algarve, thus becoming the perfect symbol for this vineyard and giving the violinist wine name.
Produced in soils, driving high and pruning in a bead, violinist wines resort to sustainable technology, such as water monitoring probes, which measure the water stress of the vines, allowing for watering only when necessary. Biodiversity is also valued, with rose blunt to attract pollinating insects and act as a warning sign for eventual diseases of the vineyard. During the numbness period, the vineyards are pastored by goats, promoting a natural control of the otherwise and enriching soils in a sustainable way.
The UCA Violinist line includes three distinct wines, each reflecting the maritime influence and unique identity of this terroir:
- Uca red violinist: Prepared from Touriga Nacional, Aragonese and Syrah castes, features ripe red fruits, black chocolate and bergamot. With a slightly salty and aromatic profile, it reveals a silky and persistent texture, becoming ideal for accompanying meat entries and dishes.
- UCA White: Combines the Arinto and Boal castes, resulting in a tropical and citrus aroma, with notes of fennel and minerality conferred by the soils. The striking freshness and the salty touch evoke the proximity of the sea, harmonizing perfectly with perceives, oysters, salads and grilled fish.
- Rosé Violinist UCA: Made with the same castes of the red, it is distinguished by the light pink tone and notes of fresh currant, guava and a delicate floral touch. It reflects the Atlantic origin of the Algarve with a vibrant freshness and subtle salinity, being perfect for light dishes, seafood or Asian cuisine.
Like the Uca Tangier It reappears with the arrival of spring, marking the renewal of the Sapal, also the violinist wines emerge to celebrate the flavors of the Algarve. With a fresh and maritime character, this range invites to be appreciated without hurry, in moments of party or relaxation, adapting to any tide.
A is a new brand of wines produced in the Arade River Agricultural Society, founded by Pedro Garcia de Matos, a businessman with a vast experience in the areas of Agriculture, Real Estate and Tourism.
The project, currently with 27 hectares of vineyards, has a strong incidence in the preservation and development of the Algarve Autochthone caste – the black black – with a positive impact on agricultural development through sustainable development practices and the promotion of the local economy. Integrated in an area with a privileged framing, the new brand will develop differentiated wine tourism projects in the Sanctuary of the Ria de Alvor.
