The minister, of the (Supreme Federal Court), approved on Wednesday (19) an agreement in which the Federal Deputy (-MG) is committed to pay R $ 131.5 thousand to the repair of damage by and thus not being prosecuted criminally.
Earlier this month, the (Attorney General’s Office) sent the court the agreed terms with the parliamentarian to analyze the case rapporteur in the Supreme Court.
Janones will also need to pay $ 26.3 thousand in a fine, equivalent to 20% of damage to public coffers.
The deputy had been indicted by the Federal Police in September 2024 on suspicion of the crimes of passive, embezzlement and criminal association.
When the case was revealed in 2023, Janones vehemently denied the practice of the “crack”. He said he would give up his secrecy and had not received “a single penny” from advisers.
The website Metrópoles revealed an audio from the parliamentarian in which he requested advisers help to pay expenses related to a 2016 campaign for the Ituiutaba City Hall (MG), when he was second in the dispute.
According to the demonstration sent by the Attorney General to the Supreme Court earlier this month, Janones admitted the irregularity and pledged to compensate the damage caused.
A PGR stretch in the commitment says that the parliamentarian expressly confirmed that he asked an advisor to “arrange an additional credit card” on his behalf.
“This card was used by the commitment [Janones] For payment of personal expenses during 2019 and 2020. The respective invoices were paid by the advisor, without discharge, by the commitment, to date, “says the document.
The first installment of the agreed amount will need to be paid 30 days after the approval of the commitment. According to the terms signed, the agreement is restricted to criminal consequences and does not achieve any reflexes in the civil and administrative sphere.
The ANPP (Agreement of Criminal Non -Persecution) was proposed by the PGR last October. It is an alternative measure whereby the parties establish clauses for the investigated to comply with and avoid the traditional judicial process.
The text states that the deputy was “assisted by technical and oriented defense about his legal and constitutional rights and duties, notably the right to silence and non -self -confrontation, as well as the content and consequences provided for in the agreement.”
In August last year, the Chamber’s Ethics Council acquitted the parliamentarian. The agency endorsed, by majority vote, to the thesis of the rapporteur of the process, (), that there would be no way to speak of breach of parliamentary decorum by alleged acts committed before the investigated has taken over the term.
