The Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, said in an interview with CNN This Friday (21), that the increase in the interest rate was already “priced in the minutes of the December Copom.”
“This increase in the interest rate was already priced in the December Copom minutes,” he said.
According to Gleisi, “the Central Bank already predicted the increase of two more percentage points in the interest rate.” “So this is not a management performance now, it was already priced,” he added.
The minister still reiterated, however, that it has always been critical to current interest policy. “My position has always been critical to this interest policy. I find the monetary policy very contractionist,” he said.
“Let’s see from now on, I expect the Central Bank now, the monetary authority, to consider the country’s economic reality, consider the issue of inflation, to have a policy more compatible with our reality,” he added.
