The televised speech by the US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, for investors to buy shares from It led to a mixture of public and private interests to unprecedented territory.
When appearing on Wednesday night (19) on the channel Fox NewsLutnick asked viewers to buy electric car company shares, calling the founder Elon Musk “the best person to bet” he has ever known.
The University of Texas professor in Austin, Henry W. Brands, whose books narrate the US Presidencies and the country’s economic history, said the episode was alarming.
“Presidents and their subordinates have long been cheerleaders for the economy as a whole,” he signed. “But I can’t remember a single case where a government has supported a particular company.”
