The French president announced a new meeting on Thursday night on Thursday, March 27 in Paris with the participation of Ukrainian president and Ukraine allies to “finalize” the “short -term support of the Ukrainian army”.

“We will hold the next fifth session of the alliance of the willingness”, countries ready to contribute, in one way or another, to give “security guarantees” to Ukraine under a possible peacekeeping agreement, President Macron said.

“The purpose for me on Thursday is in principle to be reassured, explicit and perhaps a more specific commitment to Ukraine’s short -term support,” he said.

The new meeting, which will follow a series of meetings in Paris and London since early March, is being organized with the backdrop of US talks with Russia and Ukraine to secure a limited ceasefire of fire, projected to take place on Monday in Saudi Arabia.

French President Macron and British Prime Minister Kir Starmer attempt to form a new Ukrainian support scheme after US President Donald Trump began direct talks with Russia last month, with a declared goal.

“We did a lot of work with the British for ways to establish a ceasefire and I think (the Paris Council) will be an opportunity to discuss and specify,” the French president said.

“Russia does not sincerely want peace at this stage”

“The purpose is then to specify the various levels of Ukraine support after peace, in the Ukrainian army, and potentially the development of European troops, he added.

For Emmanuel Macron, Russia’s “very frustrating” response to Washington’s and Kiev’s proposal for a general one -month ceasefire “says something we have complained to for months, that is, Russia does not sincerely want peace at this stage”.

Asked how he interprets the positions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mr Macron replied, “Ask him! I’m not in his head, “adding ironically” happily “. “But I think first of all, what we need to do is show our commitment (…) to the Ukrainians,” he added.
