The German city of Bruchköbel wants to separate from the Bärensee campsite. The area of approximately 270,000 square meters will be sold for a symbolic price of one euro. The reason for the symbolic price is the high delay in investment that the city will leave to the buyer, a amount that is estimated between the eight and ten million euros.
The Administration will present a draft resolution to Parliament at the next meeting of the Municipal Council, which will be held on Tuesday, March 25. If the City Council approves this application by majority, the square will pass to the new owner on January 1, 2026, as reported by the German media .
The mayor of the city, Sylvia Braun, said that this development is positive for all involved. “It is gratifying that the interested party comes from the ranks of the campists,” he said, adding that he has agreed to put into practice the concept of fire protection and continue managing the campsite business as a family business.
The buyer has already presented his concept of exploitation to the municipal commission and the municipal administration, and there is also an auditor’s certificate, he points out the same medium. “Know very well the structures and the local people and want to make their business projects come true. We are putting the campsite in good hands,” said the mayor, added: “For campists, this means the continuity of the campsite, something they claim.”
The city also would no longer have to invest tax money in a task that is not a municipal obligation. As a municipal property operation, the camping should not be a permanent subsidized business, Braun explained. Taking into account that the city would have to invest between eight and ten million euros in the modernization of fire protection and infrastructure, the sale planned to a private entrepreneur for a symbolic price of one euro is the best solution.
