The National Commander of Emergency and Civil Protection, André Fernandes, requested this Friday the dismissal of office for personal reasons, told Lusa source of the National Emergency Authority of Emergency and Civil Protection (Anepc).

The same source said that the dismissal of André Fernandes has to be signed now by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Margarida Blasco.

André Fernandes had held the position of national commander since December 2020, when he was appointed by the then Minister of Internal Affairs Eduardo Cabrita, on the proposal of the president of Anepc of the time, José Manuel Duarte da Costa.

The same source also said that André Fernandes will return to Odivelas City Council as a higher civil protection technician.

The current government has appointed a new president of, being José Manuel Moura in office since January.
