Putin’s decree forces the Ukrainians in the occupied territories to accept Russian citizenship or leave, which British intelligence services refer to as an effort to root out Ukrainian identity.
Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin is pushing Ukrainians living in Russia and Moscow occupied by Ukraine to legitimize their status or leave, British news services said on Saturday. According to the DPA report, TASR reports this.
On Thursday, Putin signed a decree that obliges Ukrainian citizens living in the aforementioned territories to “settle their status” or leave the areas by September 10. The British Ministry of Defense said this in its latest report from news services about the development of war in Ukraine.
“Putin’s decree is almost certainly to force Ukrainian citizens to leave … who refuse to accept Russian passports and citizenship,” says the report published on the X platform.
Russia considers the Crimean Peninsula to be part of its territory, which has been annexed more than ten years ago, or part of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporoza and Kersonian region annexed in 2022, adds the document.
