Former Central Bank president gave a lecture on financial transformation and digital currencies at an event in Miami (USA)
Former Central Bank President Roberto Campos Neto said on Friday (21.mar.2025) that he sees traditional banks in “DISUPRIATION”. He attended the event “Brazil in Transition: macroeconomic stability, climate challenges and social progress”, promoted by XP Private Bank with Miami Herbert Business School at the University of Miami (USA).
“My biggest forecast is that traditional banks will be deeply shaken by digital platform banks. It is a process that is already happening and will accelerate over the next 2 years.”said Campos Neto.
According to him, there is a capacity of digital banks to offer technological services at a cost “Much lower” than that of traditional institutions, which leads to “A lower cost of customer attraction and retention”.
“By the growing digital, emerging ones are more evolved.he said. The process is described by Campos Neto as “DISUPRIATION”.
The former BC president cited the emergence of instant payment methods, such as Pix, and said that this is causing the “Transactional part” of the seats worth less and less.
“Pix can be approached. Eventually, it will have credit card functions. Instant payments are changing how transactional banks work.”he declared.
In the near future, Campos Neto also claimed to see the existence of a single integrated platform. “You will not have on your mobile phone a Bank A, B, C or D. We will see these finance markets in a single app with all your data, and you can migrate your information to different institutions and compare financial products at cheaper prices.”.
