The President’s plane (PT) rushed during the landing due to strong winds in the city of Sorocaba (SP), 100 km from the state capital, on Tuesday (18).
Strong winds motivated the maneuver, considered safe and done around 3 pm, according to information from the VOA network, which manages the executive and maintenance airport Bertram Luiz Leupolz. The presidential plane landed safely at 3:33 pm on a second attempt.
The rush is to reverse the diving movement during landing because of some risk of accident. Then the pilots recover altitude to repeat the landing maneuver.
After the maneuver, the presidential aircraft, an Airbus A319-ACJ, landed normally at the airport.
According to the VOA network, the Cabin of Sorocaba airport informed the team of the aircraft Air Force 01 (from the presidency) that there was tail wind (in favor of the direction of the plane). This time condition accelerates the flight speed.
The wind, with gusts of up to 54 kilometers per hour, was observed throughout the macroregion of São Paulo, according to information from the São Paulo Civil Defense.

Since then, Lula recalled the episode in speeches, even claiming to have had time to “rethink life.”
His schedule foresees the return to Brasilia early Tuesday night, but should be delayed.
