Planet Time: Say 60 minutes to the atmosphere this Saturday

Initiative promoted by this year’s WWF under the theme: “Take an hour on the planet”.

This year, the central theme is “Take an hour on the planet”, inviting all dedicate 60 minutes to activities that benefit the environment: Plant trees, participate in cleaning actions or simply reflect on our daily habits that have an impact on the earth.

Symbol of solidarity and collective action by the environment

This movement, which began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, with the simple gesture of Turn off the lights for an hourbecame a symbol of solidarity and collective action through the environment.

The objective is to sensitize society for and the loss of biodiversity, encouraging individuals, companies and governments to adopt more sustainable practices. Emblematic monuments such as the Jerónimos Monastery, the Christ King, the Belém Tower, the Sintra National Palace and the 25 de Abril Bridge have already participated in previous editions, being dark during the planet time.
