Professionals ask for more hiring and salary adjustment of 6.27%; Tarcísio government says that “it works to improve teaching”
APEOESP, Union of São Paulo teachers, approved this Friday (21.mar.2025) a strike from April 25. The decision was taken at an assembly held in front of the State Department of Education, in Praça da República, center of the capital.
The category calls for the hiring of more professionals, as well as salary adjustment and better working conditions. The Tarcisio de Freitas (Republican) government said, by means of a note, that “its main objective is the constant improvement of teaching for all students and servers“.
Days before the announcement of the strike, the state prosecutor filed 2 civil actions that ask for the recomposition of the state teaching teachers. Prosecutors pointed to a Practice of the Tarcisio government to occupy vacancies primarily with temporary professionals, prejudice to the operation of schools and the learning of students.
The readjustment requested by APEOESP is 6.27%. According to the union, it is the update of the national professional salary for teachers, active and retirees. Education professionals also ask for the air conditioning of classrooms throughout the state network, because of followed heat waves.
The State Department of Education, led by Renato Feder, issued a note said: “The folder has as its main objective the constant improvement of teaching for all students and servers and continually works with the recognition and appreciation of teaching activity”.
