The soil is the most valuable for gardeners. Find out what type you just look at …
To grow well, the plants need good conditions. And one of them is the right land. “Many people think they are the same everywhere, but that is a mistake. There are different types of garden soil that differ in structure, permeability, but also the proportion of nutrients,” says an expert, adding that conventional soil contains mineral particles such as sand (or loess), clay and humus (distributed organic substances). In general, the greater the humus content, the better the ability to store nutrients and retain water, which is literally a growing jackpot for gardeners!

Three types of land
Three types of soil are distinguished for cultivation. The first is light, sandy, which unfortunately does not maintain moisture, so it is only suitable for growing grasses, lavender, wolf poppy, bell of rapeseed or Mediterranean herbs (for example, Yánd, oregano, thyme). The second is heavy, clay. It has a larger proportion of clay and is susceptible to waterlogging. It is suitable for magnolia, eagle, tacks or lilac. And the third? This is a clay soil that is heavy, dense and does not give a chance of both air and water to penetrate the roots of plants. Therefore, only very resistant meadow flowers, such as daisies, rozec or grass, survive.
A small test with a roller
Which species do you have in the garden? “You can simply find out if you try to shape a roller,” says the expert, adding that you will not model any comprehensive formation from the sandy soil, even if you have studied sculpture. For clay soil you will do better, but the work will soon fall apart. The third clay soil allows you to roll a roller, but also bend to different shapes.
What weeds reveal
According to an expert in the garden, nothing grows for free. Even weeds that can be another of the many indicators of your land. “Each species needs something different for their lives… For example, dandelions most often grow in nitrogen and potassium ground. At the same time, they prefer an environment with less calcium or phosphorus,” says the expert, continues: “For example, such a neutral soil is an ideal for planting vegetables. In a way, you can estimate the pH of your garden soil without buying expensive tests.
Alkaline (alkaline) soil
It has a pH 7 (even higher) and is rich in calcium and magnesium. The fact that you have it on your land can be recognized by the fact that you grow a meadow crane, a peasant, chicory, sage or deaf. If you are the owner of “alkaline lumps”, then use it for example to grow lilacs, buxus, gold, barley or cruciferous vegetables!
Acid
For this clay, wait less pH than 6.5. The mild acidity of the soil benefits weeds such as chamomile, three -color violet, smaller sorrel, field mint, annual hop, sweet clover or field mint. “An important representative of weeds, which grows in acidic soil, is the horsetail. Its presence suggests that there is excess of iron and little manganese in the soil. It can also mean more potassium content at the expense of phosphorus and calcium,” says the expert that slightly acidic soil is suitable for growing blueberries, redcurrant.
Confusing in green
It is true that some species of wild plants are not very demanding for soil quality, so you can see them virtually anywhere. One such species is a birdhouse who can confuse even an experienced gardener. Therefore, in the case of “weed diagnosis”, remove from the amount of weeds occurring. The greater it is, the clearer the answer about the pH of your soil.
