A cloudy, milky to reddish sky and a fine layer of dust on cars and other surfaces: Saharastaub is noticeable again this year. Strong winds of a low pressure area over Africa are currently ensuring that the desert dust in the Sahara is whirled up. The fine dust grains are worn to Central Europe with a southern level of altitude. At the weekend, a weakened cloud also pulls over Austria. The geosphere Austria provides information about the current development. The dust brings particularly impressive sunsets, occasionally there can also be so -called blood rain because the dust turns the precipitation reddish.
