Floods in the Tagus Medium: activated emergency plan in Santarém

The low Tagus region is on alert due to the risk of floods. In Almourol, the river overflows by the castle, as reporter Tomás Duran, in an interview with Vila Nova da Barquinha Fire commander Jorge Gama.

The riverside municipalities are the most affected whenever there is a record of heavy rains. In the Santarém district, the recent discharges from the Bode Castle Dam caused a zêzere river flow. In the village of Constância, a parking lot next to the river was flooded. In Almourol, the Tagus overflows by the castle, as reporter Tomás Duran, in an interview with Vila Nova da Barquinha Fire commander Jorge Gama.

Spain was forced to intensify the discharges of the dams, after the historical rains in recent days.
The Portuguese Environment Agency warns that the rise of Rio’s flow is inevitable.
