The government () dislocated the press professionals of the structure they occupied in the coverage of the agent routine on the days when he does not go to the Planalto Palace.
The promise was that a new room, larger and better conditions, be built. After more than six months, the work has not started and there is no project or open bidding.
after a hiatus of about a month living and holding some meetings at the other official residence, the Granja do Torto. The justification is that dawn has undergone “continuous maintenance” services.
The room that was used by the press existed for decades and was next to the dawn’s main guardhouse. The atmosphere is small and often did not house all the professionals who worked on the roof. It had a round table, a few chairs, a two -seater sofa and a armchair.
Next to the room was a large tent, which covered wooden banks for visitors, X-ray equipment, as well as other items used by the (institutional security office), responsible for the safety of the residence.
Without notice, the tent was dismantled and the banks removed at the beginning of the second half of 2024. GSI equipment were then transferred to the room that was used by journalists.
The promise of government members was that there would be a work on site, with improvements in the former press room and the construction of a new masonry structure.
The Lula administration, however, gave no information about the progress of the process. In response to a request for information via LAI (Access to Information Law) made by the Sheetthe Civil House acknowledged that there are no projects about it.
“We inform you that there is not, within the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, contract, bidding process, project or study, exclusively, focused on construction or any intervention in areas called or identified as rooms intended for press professionals,” says the folder.
The ministry only adds that some repairs or adaptations in the presidency facilities are carried out through already signed building maintenance contracts and common engineering services.
Asked about the forecast of completion of the work and reopening of space to journalists, the (Secretariat of Social Communication) said, through the Secretary of Press, Laércio Portela, who will respond to journalists briefly.
“We are seeing everything that has existed on the subject, if there is a project and what is possible to do. I will dialogue with the Civil House and GSI to understand what terms this is being processed in the government. Our commitment and effort is to ensure better working conditions for journalists covering the presidency,” he told the Sheet.
The secretary took office in January and said he still needs to take the situation. “We have already reaped the main demands of journalists, from the point of view of information flow, access to spokespersons, including the president himself, who has giving more interviews. Now we also reap the demands of improvement of physical spaces.”
The lack of structure in Alvorada was once the subject of meetings of press professionals with Secom and, at the end of last year, the Federal District Journalists Union sent a letter to the ministry.
In the document, he requested “urgent measures”, such as installing tents, tables and chairs, as well as the availability of power outlets, safely, to ensure “safe and worthy work”.
The coverage at the Alvorada Palace, on the days when the President dispatches on the scene, allows journalists to accompany the authorities who arrive for any meetings with the agent. The relationship of those who go to the dawn is confidential, except in the case of official agendas. And meetings with authorities are often not listed.
A determination of the CGU (Comptroller General of the Union), 2023, states that “visits to the President of the Republic in official residences are protected by revealing aspects of the intimacy and private life of public authorities and their families, unless such records are concerned with official agendas.”
When the president hit his head in a domestic accident in November, he was resting and dispatched from dawn. At the time, journalists who cover the site were already without the structure of the room.
At the time, he went to the dawn concierge by surprise to talk to the press. She authorized that communication companies that are interested could make provisional facilities on site, with tents, for a few days. GSI had not been authorized before.
In the early days of his administration, Lula promised to end the so -called “Cercadinho” in the palace of Alvorada, a symbol of coverage during the government (PL). His predecessor received supporters on the site, who harassed the press.
