Minas Gerais exports totaled US $ 2.9 billion in February this year, with a surplus of $ 1.5 billion in the trade balance. In the period, imports totaled US $ 1.4 billion, representing an increase of 24.2%, compared to the same month in 2024.
In February, the state was the 2nd largest exporter in Brazil, contributing 12.7% of Brazilian exports, behind only São Paulo (20.5%), besides being held as the 5th main importing state, being responsible for 6% of national volume.
Considering commercial flow, that is, the sum of import and export operations, Minas Gerais accounted for US $ 4.3 billion, the 2nd largest in the country, even with a low of 1.5%, compared to February 2024.
According to data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Minas continues to stand out in international sales of products such as:
- Iron ores and their concentrates (27.8%);
- café (26,8%);
- gold (7.2%);
- Iron Ligas (5.0%);
- Meats of beef animal (2.9%).
“In the first 2 months of the year, Minas has already exported US $ 6 billion and registered a total surplus of US $ 3.1 billion. And it is important to note that, just like last year, Agro Mineiro has been standing out.”says the Secretary of State for Economic Development of Minas Gerais, Mila Corrêa da Costa.
Among the 232 municipalities of Minas Gerais that exported in the period, stood out:
- Varginha (7%);
- Conceição do Mato Inside (5.8%);
- Paracatu (5.6%);
- Nova Lima (5.1%);
- Araxá (5.1%).
Minas also reached 147 markets with international sales, being the main buying countries:
- China (33,2%);
- United States (11.6%);
- Canada (5.4%);
- Argentina (4,9%);
- Japan (4.2%).
In February, the state also expanded its exports to business partners, such as Canada, with growth of 123.4% (US $ 86.3 million).
The main imported goods were:
- parts and accessories for motor vehicles (3.7%);
- passenger cars (3.7%);
- Heterocyclic compounds – organic chemical products (2.4%);
- Medicines (2.2%);
- Instruments and appliances for medicine, surgery, dentistry and veterinary (1.9%).
Among the 207 importing municipalities, the cities that stood out were:
- Extrema (13,8%);
- Betim (12.6%);
- Uberaba (7.4%);
- Counting (6.3%);
- Pouso Alegre (5.9%).
