Just over five years ago, Minas Gerais Gleide Andrade, 53, sits in an electric chair that has already brought to prison three of its predecessors. National Treasurer of, Gleide faces mishaps of another nature.
She is at the center of a dispute she has led to the largest), and is the target of a dirty campaign, including subtitle mates. “There is a machismo, a misogyny. I am a victim of this,” he says.
The most immediate reason for his indignation is what was nicknamed “Gleide Amendment”, a change in the statute approved by the National Directory last month, so that party leaders can remain in their positions longer.
The National Secretary of Finance (official name of his position) would be one of the beneficiaries. “Calling Gleide amendment is a violence that I suffer. I didn’t propose this amendment, and it doesn’t just apply to me,” he says.
Behind the dispute is control over a millionaire and growing slice of public and electoral funds. Last year, there were $ 753 million for the PT, against $ 287 million in 2020.
In July, the party will make election for president, and Gleide’s presence in the treasury became a point of discord. CNB declared candidate does not give up indicating a name for the function, today seen as the second most important of the party summit (after the presidency itself).
Gleide, however, aligns with a group of the current formed by the Minister (Institutional Relations), the Government leader in the House, José Guimarães (CE), the Secretary of Communication of the subtitle, Jilmar Tatto, and the mayor of Maricá, Washington Quaquá, among others. They rival the group of Edinho, which is supported, among others, from the ministers (farm) and Alexandre Padilha (Health) and former Minister José Dirceu, as well as the sympathy of the president.
Born in Divinópolis (MG), she joined the PT at 14. “I’m from a family of petistas, at home there were seven women and a man.” One sister had former minister Luiz Dulci, founder of the party, as a godfather of marriage, and the two approached. “For me, he’s a mentor,” says the treasurer.
Graduated in Philosophy from PUC-MG, he taught and militated in the movement of teachers, but his main career was really on the party machine.
According to an internal disaffection – which, like other ears by the SheetI did not want to expose its name – Gleide is a typical PT bureaucracy, known more by articulation than for programmatic elaboration. He performed in petist management in the city of Belo Horizonte and the Legislative Assembly of Minas.
In the party, he held positions first in his state and then nationally, until he reached the strategic function of managing the party’s cash. Atletico-MG religious and supporter, he has a son of a previous relationship and is married to Jilmar Tatto. “I’m very mining, reserved. You won’t see me going to the bar all night,” he says.
Her mineirice is not unanimous in the caption. Adversaries say she is quarrelsome and authoritarian. According to a leader, in the case of Gleide, the “elbow walks in front of the rest of the body.”
“I’m hard and firm, because to sit in this chair it has to be,” she says, who lists a series of achievements in office. “I created a compliance program, the accounts today are balanced and everything is done with transparency.”
In last year’s election, she was accused of having the distribution of resources. An emblematic case was that of Rogério Corrêa, PT candidate in Belo Horizonte, who received $ 8.1 million from the party and was in sixth place, with 4.37% of the votes.
Gleide says that all decisions were approved collectively by the subtitle’s electoral work group, and that Corrêa started well in the dispute and therefore received the resources. “And if it is to talk about mistakes, let’s look at Sao Paulo, who only elected four mayors,” he says in a storage to the group that supports Edinho.

The direct way has already earned him headaches. In October 2023, Gleide went to social networks to say that Israel was a “killer” and did not deserve to exist because of the attacks on Gaza. Called anti -Semitic by Jewish organizations, he had to retract.
On the other hand, even internal rivals recognize their dedication to the party and great work capacity. “I am as a unfoldable woman says. If she gives me ten tasks, I do. And take care of my son, dog, my mother and the PT,” he says.
One of its priorities at the moment is to put a candidacy for federal deputy next year. In 2022 she made a first attempt to arrive at the House and got 50,000 votes, being alternate.
Now the project seems more structured. Gleide formed a vast network of support between mayors and councilors of Minas Gerais e.
Her Instagram shows meetings in which she stands as an intermediary of the release of federal funds to municipalities governed by petistas.
With his prestige, he can open doors in Brasilia for small towns. On February 11, he took the mayors of Virgin da Lapa, Almenara and Colonel Murta, in the Jequitinhonha Valley, to discuss with the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, works on BR-367. The next day, the group met with Fernando Haddad (farm).
She says, however, that she is evaluating better if she will really be a candidate. “It will be a very difficult election. It is very unequal to compete with deputies who have amendments to present,” he says.

Despite the strength in the party, he suffered a recent setback, when a ally of his, the former mayor of Betim, amid a reformulation in the state deficit. Gleide is also close to the Minister of Human Rights, Macaé Evaristo, although he deny that he has nominated for the position.
Even with the party standing, the treasurer says she still believes in an agreement. It states that there is no closed decision on whether or not to continue in the treasury, which could make way for an Armistice. “I don’t have it resolved. For any position, you need to have a vote. If you don’t have a vote, you don’t see anything on the PT.”
CNB, she believes, will be mature to reach an agreement, at a time when no problems for a low -popular government. “Our current is the largest in PT, and who is bigger has to have more judgment.”
Catholic practicing, Gleide published, on March 5, a message in reference to the fraternity campaign. “That St. Francis of Assisi inspires us to act with more love and respect for our common home,” he said. The message could be valid for the PT.
