At least 10 people detained during the political crisis in Venezuela have already been released

Among the detainees are two chamber presidents who were supported by the government of Nicolás Maduro

Venezuela authorities seized more than 9 tons of cocaine and detained six presidents of municipalities, two pro-regime and four of the opposition, announced the Minister of Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello.

“All the puzzle begins to fit, which leads us to establish the connection between conspiracy, drug trafficking, corruption, (…) in which sectors are involved who perform government functions in the state of Zulia [oeste]And we have perhaps the hardest blow to the drug traffickers’ groups in recent times, ”Cabello said on Saturday during a press conference.

According to Cabello, the Nervins may be arrested from Jesús Sarcos Urdaneta (from the municipality of Colón), Rafael Arturo Ramírez Colina (Maracaibo), Fernando Loaiza (Catatumbo) and Danilo Esteban Áñez Polanco (Jesús Enrique Lossada), all linked to the opposition.

Two presidents of city councils were also detained with the support of the Venezuelan government: Jorge Luis Nava Paz (Miranda) and Alberto de Jesús Roalvarro Durán (Admiral Padilla).

“We found in investigations a direct connection between drug trafficking, conspiracy and this has to do with the degradation of politics. There is no reason for a politician to end up linked to drug trafficking groups, nor to corruption groups, let alone unite to leave the Bolivarian revolution and end the constitution of Venezuela,” said Cabello.

The minister also said there were alleged bonds between the detainees and a well -known businessman from Cameroon, who would have funded election campaigns in Venezuela.

“We have to be more severe in the revision of the candidacies, much more severe now that the elections approach, but strictly severe,” he said.

The minister accused the opponent Maria Corina Machado of having received financing from drug trafficking groups from Colombia and explained that, in addition to the six mayors, there is another group of detained people, which includes judges and prosecutors.
