The fire broke out on Friday afternoon in Sančchong district, approximately 250 kilometers from Seoul, where it spread to other areas. Five of six injured people were in serious condition. So far, 4150 hectares of soil have burned, which corresponds to approximately 5811 football fields.
The government will provide financial support to help
The government has decided to provide Sančchong and the other two areas affected by fire-affected special financial support to help eliminate the consequences, said the acting President of the CCHOI Sang-power during the meeting dedicated to managing disasters. “We will immediately provide three areas affected by forest fires a special grant … of $ 2.6 billion (approximately $ 173 million),” said Čoi. In recent days, firefighters have been trying to get the fires under control, and approximately 30 helicopters were mobilized. The authorities stated that the fire in Sančchong had firefighters under control on Sunday afternoon at 53 percent.
