Towels and bath towels are the highest quality fabric over time, they will scratch on the skin and still smell it. How to revive towels to make them soft and pleasant to the touch again?
Why do towels harden
Mainly because of two factors. The hardness of water and detergents plays a role. Whether liquid, powder or capsules. Remnants of scale and detergents are settled in the fabric and make mischief.

Regular washing towels cannot be avoided even if we wanted to. The towels are a breeding ground for bacteria that are playing in a humid environment. To achieve cleanliness and also have a nice soft, they need to be washed separately to higher temperatures. Always follow the signs where the manufacturer reports the necessary information, including the required detergent temperature. Mostly in towels start at 60 degrees Celsius. It is also important not to overload the drum of the washing machines and not to fill to the maximum.
Do not add fabric softener to the washing cycle, which reduces absorbency, although it seems counterproductive, because advertising often reports that it is necessary to use it for the softness of the towels. This works, but until the fabric is suckled by the different components of the fabric softener and stays there.
Try glycerin
A great solution is to use glycerin instead of fabric softener. The name Glycerol is also used.
It is available in pharmacies because it is used in connection with the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. We will go back to this, now let’s focus on its contribution to the washing towels, where it has a great shot as a natural fabric softener.
Where glycerin comes from
Glycerin as such is obtained from vegetable fats, such as palm or coconut oil, is in the form of viscous liquid and does not smell. It can also be made synthetically. The softening feature is the one we care about. Just add a teaspoon when you wash towels and result in a pleasant surprise.
For skin, hair and furniture
Glycerin proclaims some cosmetic companies as a magnet for hydration because it can “lock” moisture in the skin and give it softness. For example, for various hand creams, packaging proclaims the glycerin content. You can buy it as a separate product and use it on cracked heels that can handle well. A few drops can also be added to shampoos or hair masks, because your mane can moisturize the same as the skin. What’s more, painted furniture and mirrors polish greatly and repels dust.
How much does it cost
As for the price, for example, Ben’s pharmacy on the web offers a package of 600 milliliters of universal glycerin for 85 crowns. The Polish Allegro with relatively fast delivery to us on its website reports a ninety -crown item for a liter of pharmaceutical, plant glycerin.
