AHETA will honor its founder and former president, Elidérico Viegas, recently deceased, in a ceremony where a memorial with his figure at the association’s headquarters in Albufeira will be unveiled.

At the ceremony, chaired by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado, will also be inaugurated an “Presidents Gallery” in an evocative exhibition of all members who joined management positions, General Assembly and Fiscal Council in the life of Aheta.

This will be one of the first ceremonies that the Association, now led by Helder Martins, is organizing to mark the 30th anniversary of the Algarve Business Organization.

The evocation of the professional course and associative leader of Elidérico Viegas will be made by the journalist and collaborator of the Algarve postcard, Ramiro Santos, who closely followed the work developed by the honoree over almost four decades.

Elidérico Viegas also resident collaborator of the postcard until his death on 2 November 2024, left a legacy as an associative leader who shaped and projected the name of tourism beyond the Algarve himself.

Determined man and strong convictions, Viegas leaves an indelible mark in the Algarve and the country business associativism, and has always been an active and critical voice in the tourist sector.
