GNR Operations Week in the Algarve ends with 61 arrests, 959 infractions and 90 accidents

GNR seizes 22 cylinders of nitrous oxide, known as 'laughter drug', in Quarteira

The Faro Territorial Command of the Republican National Guard (GNR) carried out, between 17 and 23 March, a set of operations throughout the district of Faro, which resulted in 61 arrests, hundreds of road infractions, 90 accidents and 13 minor injuries.

During this operational week, 61 people were arrested in the act. These arrests include 17 by driving without legal qualification, 13 by driving under the influence of alcohol and six for drug trafficking.

As part of the actions developed, GNR has made several seizures, namely 97 doses of cocaine, 42 doses of hashish, three hunter, three pistols, two revolvers, three compressed air carabins, two compressed air pistols, three catanas, five mobile phones and various ammunition.

With regard to road inspection, 959 infractions were detected, including 298 by speeding, 59 due to lack of compulsory periodic inspection, 40 related to anomalies in lighting and signaling systems, 16 due to lack of liability insurance, 15 due to misuse of mobile phone during driving and 14 for the lack or incorrect use of the seat belt and/or retention systems for children.

During the same period, it also registered 90 road accidents, which resulted in 13 minor injuries.
