The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddadsaid on Monday (24) that the new form of payroll for workers CLT and MEI, named by the worker’s credit government, is a “matter of justice”, and is inserted in a microeconomic agenda that is cool from the macro discussion, amid high interest rates.
“Why can’t the private sector worker have the same benefit as the civil servant and retirees? It was not the debt that over -winded the person, it was the interest,” said the minister during the event Rumos 2025, promoted by the newspaper Economic value.
Haddad also cited the ceiling for revolving interest, mentioning that it is a measure to “avoid overexploitation of the most vulnerable part, which is precisely that person who needs a credit to an emergency and falls into a plot that prevents him from breathing.”
“This measure is structural, it is not about the Selic interest conjuncture. We need to create macro and microeconomic conditions for Brazil,” said the head of the farm. “Without this micro agenda, accompanied by macro, these more orthodox recipes will not help the Brazilian economy.”
“We have been prisoner for a model with high primary deficits with about $ 2 trillion accumulated deficit. A country’s microeconomic agenda was missing to help our economy,” Haddad said.
Asked about government priorities, Haddad reinforced the focus of the economic team in measures to improve the tax system. “The tax sector in Brazil is the worst in the world and the most unfair in the world,” he said.
