PL leader in the House, Deputy Sostenes Cavalcante, said on Sunday, 23, in an interview with Estadão which currently accounts for the support of more than 310 amnesty deputies for January 8 prisoners. The statement was after the disclosure of the Estadão amnesty scoreexclusive survey among the parliamentarians of the house. For Sostenes, the 95 deputies who did not want to respond to the survey so far will support the bill at the time they go to the vote. They would add, according to him, to the 176 deputies who said “yes in the survey.” Another 116 said no and 126 did not return.

“These center deputies of the Center will come with us only to see the signature of party leaders. Some of them may not declare vote in advance because they may have some process in the Supreme Court, some care, but at the time of the vote will vote with us,” said Sostenes.

If the 95 who answered the survey but refused to declare the vote to manifest themselves in favor in plenary, the amnesty could reach 271 votes, more than the 257 necessary to advance in the House. However, there is no indication that those who omitted the vote have already defined anywhere. The survey is dynamic and will be constantly updated.

The PL leader said he met with Republicans leader Gilberto Abramo (MG), and the party president, Marcos Pereira (SP), to seal the support of the mayor, Hugo Motta (PB), amnesty.

“Republicans will be with us in amnesty. In addition to Republicans, we already had seven party confirmed. I think we get to nine quietly. I go after solidarity last week,” said the PL leader. “We will go from 310 votes in this vote. I have no doubt that,” he said.

According to Sostenes, the mayor assured that he will meet with the leaders after returning from the trip to Japan with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and should guide the amnesty project in the sequence.

“President Hugo Motta is an ally of the Amnesty project from the first moment and we will not make any decision in his absence for loyalty, however we need to say that we have complete confidence that upon his arrival the amnesty will be based on the necessary urgency,” he said.

Asked about the rejection of most amnesty deputies to former President Jair Bolsonaro, the PL leader replied that “they will not guide the amnesty to those who are not even convicted” and attested that the project will benefit only those arrested for the crimes committed on January 8. “Amnesty is for those who are already final,” he said.

About the 47 deputies who say they are in favor of reducing penalties instead of total amnesty, Sostenes said he will sensitize them. “It’s no use reducing. It has to amnesty these people,” he said. “Now, we believe that those who have an image and photo of which he has done depredation and destroyed have to answer for depredation of public heritage. This is no problem for us,” he said.
