The Army of Earth of Spain plans to receive this year the first modernized teams to update the NASAMS anti -aircraft batteries to version 2+, as is part of the program signed with the Norway Kongsberg in mid -2024, the specialized media has reported .
“Avencs have been produced in the modernization programs of the country and Nasams anti -aircraft systems, in the case of the latter we will receive the first modernized materials in this 2025,” said the Chief of the General Staff of the Army (JEME), General of Army Amador Teach and Berea, in an article in the magazine Army.
The Nasams anti -aircraft modernization program has a presupport of 410 million euros, almost 500 million with the taxes included. Thus, the contract includes the update of the four Fire Director Centers (FDC) in Service in the Anti -aircraft artillery command (MAAA) of the Army. As well as the purchase of a new FDC of similar characteristics for the Air and Space Army.
The NASAMS missile battery has a 25 -kilometer range and has two six missile pitchers, in addition to a radar and a control and control center. Its shield has the ability to tear down any threat within its range of action, whether drones, helicopters, fighters, any unmanned aircraft or cruise missiles.
The use of this anti -aircraft has been highlighted by Taiwan, who bought three of these units from the United States as part of an agreement so that their anti -sine defenses can cope with the threat of China and defend against their fighters, drones and missiles, as published in November last year.
The links between China and Taiwan broke in 1949, after the forces of the Kuomintang Nationalist Party lost the civil war against the Communist Party and moved to the archipelago. However, relations were restored only at the business and informal level at the end of the 80s, but China continues to consider Taiwan as another province.
