University teacher dies run over by drunk driver in RS

The accident occurred on Saturday (22), when the 81 -year -old woman was hit by a pickup truck and throwing against the bars of a building, dying at the scene.

According to the Rio Grande Civil Police, the 34 -year -old truck driver, Lucas Pansera, was subjected to the breathalyzer test, which indicated 0.51 mg/l alcohol in the blood, above the one allowed by law. He was arrested in the act and taken to the Rio Grande State Penitentiary.

Aimée, born in Cienfuegos, in Cuba, was a retired teacher who continued to teach in the Graduate Program in Letters at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), an institution in which she began her academic career in 1997. His work focused especially on women’s literature.

In 2017, Aimée had her work recognized and was chosen as Patron of the FURG Book Fair. Due to his tragic death, the university declared official mourning, suspended classes from the Institute of Letters and Arts (Ila) on Monday (24) and opted for a remote office in the secretariat.
