United States President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the country will apply a “secondary rate” over Venezuela from April 2, when the reciprocal tariffs already announced by it should take effect.
In a socially publication, Trump said that “any country that buys Venezuela’s oil and/or gas will be forced to pay a 25% tariff to the US over any trade with our country.”
The Republican justified the measure claiming that the government of Nicolás Maduro has been “very hostile to the US and the freedoms we defend.”
Trump also accused Venezuela of sending, clandestinely and deliberately, “tens of thousands of high level criminals,” many of whom would be “killers and very violent nature.”
According to him, among the gangs sent is the Aragua Tren, which was designated as a “foreign terrorist organization.” “We are in the process of returning them to Venezuela-it’s a great task!” He concluded.
