Pedro Severino, 19, a player of the base of Red Bull Bragantino who suffered a serious car accident, was transferred from the ICU to the fourth in the early evening of Monday (24), reports medical report released by Unimed Ribeirão Preto.

The athlete has been hospitalized since March 6, with stable clinical condition and without the need for mechanical ventilation.

The service provided to him is of high complexity, with the performance of intensivist doctors, neurosurgeons, clinical neurologists and multidisciplinary team, under the coordination of intensive care doctor Gil Teixeira.

“The medical team clarifies that Pedro Severino’s neurological picture still inspires care and need to maintain hospitalization,” says the newsletter.

The athlete suffered head trauma after a serious accident at dawn on the 4th, on the Anhanguera Highway.

Severino was in the car with a driver and colleague Pedro Castro, 18, who also plays in the base category of the Bragança Paulista club (67 km from Sao Paulo). The driver stated in testimony that he slept at the wheel.

Castro suffered minor injuries. He was in the back seat of the car at the time of the accident; Severino was in the front seat next to the driver.

Dr. Waldemar Tebaldi Municipal Hospital in Americana (SP), where the athlete was taken shortly after the accident, even started the brain death protocol, which confirms the loss of brain functions, but interrupted the process after “present cough reflection frame.”

On the 6th, the player was transferred to Unimed from Ribeirão Preto. Severino is formed at the base of Botafogo-SP and had been loaned to Bragantino in February.
