Memorandum was signed by Marina Silva and Japanese Environmental Minister Keiichiro Asao during a visit by Lula’s entourage to Asia
The governments of Brazil and On Tuesday (25), a memorandum signed to strengthen technical and financial cooperation for the promotion of sustainable development in countries. According to the Brazilian government, the document covers areas such as the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (mitigation) and adaptation to climate change, including early warning systems for extreme weather events, promoting circular economy and access to genetic resources.
The document was signed by the Environment Minister, and by the Japan Environment Minister, Keiichiro Asao, the minister accompanies the Brazilian government’s entourage to the Asian country.
According to Lula Management, Memorandum also provides, as instruments for the execution of the partnership, the conduct of political dialogues, joint projects, research and feasibility studies, information sharing and organization of seminars and workshops.
“The signing of the memorandum strengthens global cooperation to address climate change towards COP30 and the relations between Brazil and Japan in important sectors for both countries, such as mitigation, adaptation, urban environment, technology and innovative financing mechanisms,” said Marina Silva, according to the Brazilian government.
After the signature, Marina Silva and Keiichiro Asao had a bilateral meeting. According to the government, priority guidelines were discussed for COP30, climate financing, strengthening multilateralism and synergies between conventions on climate change, biological diversity and combating desertification and mitigation of drought effects.
