The minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, recommended that workers adhere to the Worker Credit Program, launched by the Federal Government. In a video posted on social networks on Saturday (22), the minister said: “tightened the budget? Is interest rate high? The program, which came into force last Friday (21), is intended for workers with a formal contract and allows the hiring of payroll loans, with a direct discount on the payroll. Installments may not exceed 35% of gross salary.

According to the federal government, the purpose of the measure is to offer a more affordable line of credit, reducing workers’ indebtedness. From April 25, it will be possible to migrate to this mode loan contracts with higher interest rates. During the launch of the program, earlier this month, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) stated that the initiative seeks to offer “cheap credit to get out of the loan”, classifying the measure as a “revolution”.

Gleisi’s statement generated criticism on social networks. Users questioned the association of the program with the name of the president, citing the principle of impersonality provided for in article 37 of the Federal Constitution, which prohibits the use of names and images of authorities for personal promotion.

In the first weekend of operation, the program recorded 40.1 million credit simulations and 4.5 million proposal requests forwarded to financial institutions. According to dataprev data, released by the Ministry of Labor, until 6 pm on Sunday (23), 11,032 contracts were signed through the digital work card app.
