The mayor () said at a group event Lives on Monday (24) that he intends to stay until the end of the current term, but avoided promising that he will not leave office for a possible dispute of the state government in next year’s elections.

Alongside former governor João Doria (without party), Nunes was asked if he would promise not to leave the city to replace (Republicans) at the Bandeirantes Palace in 2026. After a while in silence, thoughtful, he responded vaguely.

“My intention is to stay four years as mayor. [Mas] Things end up changing. When I would imagine that, as Vice of Bruno Covas, I was going to lose Bruno on May 16 and would become mayor? Things are happening. We will only take any attitude that is good for the city and the project. And I understand that the project to defeat the left at the federal, state and municipal level will always be important because I believe a liberal government is more positive for society, “he said.

Doria’s presence at the event is symbolic because the former tucano did exactly the movement Nunes rehearses now.

Elected mayor in 2016, Doria left office in April 2018 to run for the Bandeirantes Palace – he won the dispute, and remained governor until April 2022, when he resigned to try to run for presidency, but eventually gave up before the election.

Bruno Covas (PSDB) was his deputy in the city hall, and assumed the command of the municipality with the resignation of Doria. The toucan was reelected in 2020 for another four years, on a plate with Nunes. When Covas died in May of the following year, the emedebista took office.

Nunes’ future in the next elections is directly linked to that of the current governor, who has told allies that if this is the desire of the former president ().

After the publication of the report of SheetLast month, Tarcisio denied his intention and said he prefers to try reelection in, assessing that his chances of victory would be greater in the state.

However, if Bolsonaro remains ineligible, Tarcisio is the main choice of the right to return to the Planalto Palace. And in this case, he would leave his place in the São Paulo government open to Nunes.

Regarding Jair Bolsonaro’s trial at the Supreme Court (Supreme Court) by a coup d’état, Nunes said against this instance because, according to him, Bolsonaro has no forum for not being president. Thus, it should be tried in the first instance.

Nunes also said he goes to Bolsonaro’s act on Paulista Avenue on April 6th.
